Shaping Your Future Weekly Memo:
Toward a Year of Greater Fulfillment and Happiness

DECEMBER 31, 2015
Shaping Your Future is a free weekly memo that provides readers with practical and applicable tips for uncovering their future success. Readers are challenged to re-imagine their personal and professional narratives, goals, and objectives, and re-invent their lives and work in a manner consistent with their new vision of the future.

This Weeks Focal Point:

For decades, futurists, scientists, and novelists have been predicting that technology would make us so productive that the 40-hour workweek would dwindle to five or six hours, while the majority of our time would be spent on personal pursuits and leisure. The reality of course is completely different. Yes, technology has certainly enabled us to do more, but the question we have to wrestle with is whether that same technology has enabled us to be more.

Just look around your house or your office and count the number of devices and programs promising to make your life easier and more fulfilling. While we think that these products will lead to greater leisure and happiness, the truth is we tend to fill the time saved with more things to do. As we look ahead to 2016, let us resolve to be more rather than do more. Only then can technology actually lead to greater fulfillment and happiness.
