Last fall someone asked me to clearly define what it means to make a “meaningful impact.”
I’d used these words together nine times in the first part of our conversation, so obviously this should be a simple answer right?
Well…not really :).
Don’t get me wrong, I could expound on what I felt it meant to me personally, and, do it with passion and enthusiasm, BUT…
It wasn’t clear.
It wasn’t consistent. And because of that…
It wasn’t meaningful.
Here’s what I learned from that conversation:
Making a MEANINGFUL IMPACT starts with truly knowing what it MEANS to YOU.
Here are three ways I’d answer that question if someone asked me today:
A MEANINGFUL IMPACT is about:
It’s about disrupting the day-to-day norms, routines, mindsets, and ideas that have taken root in our lives, because we need to be shaken in order to truly grow and move forward.
2.) BREAKING CHAINS
It’s about getting free from the limitations that WE or others have put on us. It’s about pushing past what we think is possible both for ourselves and for those around us.
3.) CREATIVE DESTRUCTION
It’s about tearing down what keeps us from realizing WHO it is that we are meant to be.
So, I’m asking YOU today:
What does making a “MEANINGFUL IMPACT” mean to YOU?
